Tatiana's Story
After years of trying to get pregnant, Tatiana had finally succeeded. She and her husband were thrilled to become parents, and Tatiana began to attend classes with HCM to ensure that her baby would be healthy. Teresa, an HCM outreach worker, taught her classes and helped her sign up to receive prenatal care at a clinic near her home.
After seven months of pregnancy, Tatiana felt terrible pain in her abdomen. She went to the emergency room, where she was told that the baby had to be delivered immediately and placed in the ICU. Teresa consoled Tatiana and helped her navigate through the complex health system which was caring for her and her baby.
After several weeks, Tatiana and her baby were finally able to leave the hospital. The baby is healthy, and Teresa and Tatiana have formed a lasting bond.
